In Da Nang, brunch is less a time slot and more a mood. The city's cafés serve eggs at three in the afternoon and egg coffee at eight in the morning, and nobody blinks. What matters is a shaded table, a plate that looks as good as it tastes, and nowhere urgent to be.
Here is how to do it well, from a café that serves a lot of it.
Where to brunch: why An Thượng
An Thượng sits between My Khe Beach and Ngũ Hành Sơn road, a grid of walkable streets full of cafés, guesthouses and restaurants. It is where travelers, digital nomads and plenty of Da Nang locals go for a long late breakfast. You can walk from the sand to your table in about ten minutes, and from one café to the next in two.
Read our An Thượng guide for getting there, staying there and what happens after dark.
What a great Da Nang brunch looks like
- Eggs done right. Poached eggs that break into a golden sauce, not a rubbery puck. Benedict is the test of a brunch kitchen.
- Fruit from this season. Mango, banana, dragon fruit, passion fruit and coconut are local. Our smoothie bowl guide has the seasonal calendar.
- Two coffee cultures. Espresso with latte art for the morning habit, and Vietnamese coffee for the local side: egg coffee, salt coffee, coconut coffee or a classic cà phê sữa đá.
- Something to share. Brunch is better with a plate in the middle of the table.
- Shade and air. A terrace with plants and an awning beats a glass box on a 34 degree day.
Sunday brunch: timing and tips
Weekends in An Thượng are busy from about 9:30 until noon. A few habits make the morning smoother:
- Arrive early or late. Before 9:30, or after 12:30 when the first wave has moved on to the beach.
- Order coffee first. At a full café, brunch plates can take 15 to 20 minutes. Coffee comes first and the wait disappears.
- Bring cash or a QR banking app. Many cafés take cash or bank transfer by QR.
- Check the allergen notes. Most brunch kitchens handle eggs, gluten, dairy, seafood and nuts. Ask if you need something left out.
Brunch with kids
Da Nang is an easy city for families, and brunch is the easiest meal of the day. Look for dishes that are familiar but fresh: pasta, toast with eggs, fruit, smoothies. At Oh la la! the Spaghetti Bolognese (125,000 VND) is the plate kids usually finish, and the smoothie bowl counts as dessert in most families.
After the meal, guests can ask for a ticket and spin our prize wheel. Every spin wins something: a cookie, a juice, a coffee, a dessert, and sometimes an Oh la la! t-shirt. Kids tend to remember the wheel longer than the beach.

After brunch: what to do nearby
- The beach. My Khe is about ten minutes on foot. The sun is strong by late morning, so find shade or wait until after 15:00.
- Marble Mountains. Around 15 minutes south by Grab: caves, pagodas and views over the coast.
- A siesta. The real local tradition. Da Nang slows down in the early afternoon heat.
- The Dragon Bridge at night. On weekend evenings the bridge breathes fire and water, usually around 21:00.
Our 3-day Da Nang itinerary strings it all together.
