The place
Oh la la! is a small bordeaux awning on a busy An Thượng street. Rattan bistro chairs face the scooters, plants soften the wall, and the coffee arrives with a swan drawn in the foam.
What guests actually write about, over and over, is not the food. It is the welcome. The owner comes to your table. He asks if everything is good. He jokes. He sends over coconut chips you did not order, and at the end he might let you spin a wheel for a cookie.

English muffin, poached eggs, smashed avocado and hollandaise. Bacon if you want it. The single most photographed plate in the house.
Eggs, bacon, toast and the whole classic line-up, eaten slowly while the street goes past.
Toast and a juice of your choice. Mornings only, 08:00 to 10:30. The easiest way to start a day here.
Thick toast, smashed avocado, grilled shrimp and basil. Generous enough that people mention the size in their reviews.
Squid and shrimp, in cream or tomato depending on the day. The plate that turns a brunch into a lunch.
Slow meat sauce, nothing clever. The one the kids always finish.
Banana, strawberry, chia, coconut and cashews laid out in stripes in a clay bowl. Guests call the mango one the best they have had in Vietnam.
Yogurt, granola and fruit. Light, and it arrives fast when you have somewhere to be.
Seasonal fruit with house yogurt, sometimes walnut and feta. Simple and very cold, which matters here.
Made properly, and served with a rosetta or a swan in the foam. Worth ordering just to watch it arrive.
The Vietnamese classic, whipped egg over strong coffee. Guests keep calling ours the best they found in the country.
Passionfruit, mango, watermelon, whatever is good that morning. Also Vietnamese coffee, and a hot chocolate with egg that the French guests are very loud about.
The room
When you have finished eating, ask us for the wheel. Every guest gets one spin, and it actually gives things away: a cookie, a smoothie, a coffee, a coconut treat. It is our favourite way to say goodbye, and the reason people write that we gave them something they did not order.

We are an open terrace right on the street. It is pretty and sunny, and sometimes it is loud and hot. That is the place, not a surprise.
When it is full, brunch takes about 15 to 20 minutes. We try to get the coffee to you straight away.
Allergies: eggs, gluten, dairy, seafood and nuts are all in the kitchen. Tell us before you order.
